William Brooks - date of death?
« on: Monday 07 June 21 04:18 BST (UK) »
I have a William Brooks born born 1807 in Bury Lancashire in my ancestry, and he married Ellen Wood on 5 December 1836 (I'm fairly certain of that date). Ellen Wood came from Dundalk Ireland, and was 5-6 years older than William I believe. I'm noting that, as there is another couple with the same names so it can get a little confusing. (That other William went to Australia as a convict I think).
I do not have a death date for William. Can anybody assist? They had a son Joseph who came to NZ where I am.  I haven't followed up with other children, I'm not so concerned with them at this stage.

Are you wanting help to trace your William back?
I don’t think he is in anyway the same William this post was about.
Suggest you ask moderator to split it off to a new thread.

Good morning
Thank you for your comment and suggestion re the moderator.
I am curious to know why you think this is not "My' William Brooks. Would you like to comment further in order for me to understand better. I would really appreciate your response. The journey is long and twisted at times and another person's understanding is always refreshing. cheers and thank you again.

The William Brooks in the opening post of the thread was born in 1807.
In the thread he is followed until at least 1861.

Your William Brooks was 31 in 1853, so born about 1822. I know people were vague about their ages then, but that is a big difference.
Age 47 at death gives another year of birth of about 1818 - Still a long way from 1807

Also  he was obviously in NZ by 1853.

The British Army World Wide Index on FindMyPast has him in NZ in 1861 as you would expect. So he cannot be in Bury.

Have you made enquiries at the National Library (NZ) which looks to have a lot of documents.
From the summary here https://natlib.govt.nz/records/22357254. the latest William could have arrived here is in 1852. But possibly as early as 1846.

Did you perhaps mean to attach your message to a different thread?
