Section plan of Scartho Road Cemetery
« on: Sunday 30 May 21 16:13 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am hoping that someone can help me with a section plan of Scartho Road Cemetery.  I am searching for the grave of Charles Colin Lusby, on behalf of my sister in law who lives in Canada.  Charles Colin was her brother and died on 6th December 1941 age 4 years and was buried on the 10th December 1941.  I have a copy of the burial register which tells me that Charles Colin is buried in section 123, Row C, grave no. 6.

My sister in law told me that he had a wooden cross, which their father used to go and give a coat of varnish, from time to time.  When she mentioned a wooden cross, I thought that there was no way that was still going to be there after 80 years, but I spent 2 hours yesterday looking round the cemetery at as many wooden crosses I could find and I was surprised to find there were still some there from that time and before but sadly not one for Charles.

As I didn't know where section 123 was, I am not sure that I was looking in the right place, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Diana

Have you tried to contact the Cemetery - I'm sure they could point you in the right direction for the Section, if not the actual grave location.  Or perhaps Lincolnshire FHS - they have a Grimsby Branch.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

Hello,

Thanks everybody for your input.  I first went to the cemetery yesterday and did look for any grounds staff but not a soul in sight!  It was Saturday, so perhaps they don't work weekends.

I went on the Gravestonephotos site that you gave me Bee and I am so thrilled, I have found a photo of Charles Colin's gravestone!  At the cemetery, as I was told by my sister in law, there was a wooden cross, that's what I was looking for, so didn't bother looking at any gravestones.  I think from the map, I know where it is now.  Thank you also Glen in Tinsel Kni, for the findagrave website.

Thank you very much all of you for your help.  It's very much appreciated.  As usuall, Rootschat comes up trumps once again!  You are amazing people.
