Editing relationship info

Not sure if this is the right area to post this but lets give it a go!

Edward married 1st -Eleanor and they are my 22nd grandparents and that is stated on both my Family Tree Maker software and my Ancestry tree.
Edward married 2nd - Margaret and they produced another line making her also my 22nd grandmother.  However on both trees she is down as wife to my 22nd grandfather, their son is stated as a grand uncle but his daughter is down as a great grandmother!

Anyone know how I can change Margaret's relationship to me? I've looked everywhere and googled unsuccessfully.

Sorry if I'm being an idiot, but I am a bit confused by the relationships here.

Are you saying that you are descended from the children produced by Edward and Elinor's marriage, as well as the children produced by the same Edward and Margaret's marriage?

Yes I am.

My 11th great grandparents were the ones descended from the two wives.

I've tried recreating your error on Ancestry and haven't been able to do it.

I don't have the Family Tree Maker software so I can't use that to try to replicate it.

All I can suggest is maybe looking under the 'Edit Relationships' tab on Ancestry to double check that all the relationships are being properly acknowledged, such as no one being accidentally listed as a step-parent when they are actually a parent for example.

One thing I did notice when trying to recreate the problem, is that Ancestry gives you a tick box when you are adding a parent, for example the Mother, that allows you to add all the children of that Father as being of the same Mother automatically. It's very easy to catch that by accident.

My only other suggestion is deleting and reentering the information for Margaret, which is annoying but it might resolve it.

Rather reluctant to re-enter as there are so many people involved.  Guess at the end of the day I know the relationship.  It's rather annoying really because it's only the second wife and her son who are wrong, somehow it is correct for his daughter.

I use an old version of FTM and have had something similar happen. I resolved it by detaching the problematical child from their parents and in so doing discovered that they had another set in their place! If they'd ended up orphaned I would have attached them to the correct parents.

I think ftm struggles with double relationships.  Although a tree will show descent by two paths from the same person or couple, view relationship or whatever it's called will probably only identify one.

To narrow things down, check the relationship shown on the children of Edward & Margaret.

One of them should be a gggg.. grandfather/grandmother and the rest should be ggg.. uncles and aunts.

If they are not, then there is an iffy relationship down that branch, closer to yourself, and you have quite a few relationships to check under "Edit Relationships".

If they are, and their relationship with Margaret is shown properly, then there must be a problem in Ancestry.
