McIntyre- Holy Isle(off Arran)

This is My Grgr grandfather John McIntyre at his home on the Holy Isle off of Arran. I have had the original scanned and redone. I am curious as to who the others are in the picture. I believe the young women seated on the right are his daughters. If I am correct the gentleman next to him may be a boarder that lived there. I suspect that it dates to late 1880s early 1890s.

Hi there. yes, that is the family. I am trying to date the picture. John McIntyre is my gr gr grandfather. I have an idea as to when as I confirmed one of the people I think last night. The older gentleman standing next to John. There was a boarder in his 80s living there in 1891. I think it may be him.

As far as I can see of the ladies dresses, it could well be 1880s.

Referring to the Census posted by Colin, I originally thought "Kilbride" to be "West Kilbride" on the mainland opposite Arran, until I located the following:
QUOTE William Taylor McIntyre, a private with the, 9th (Service) Bn Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), who was born in Kilbride, Brodick, but enlisted in Ardrossan, died today on the Western Front. The son of William and Catherine McIntyre, 8 Douglas Row, Brodick, he entered the theatre of war on July 14, 1915 and was awarded the 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. He is buried in Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe and he is commemorated on Brodick War Memorial and Ardrossan War Memorial. END QUOTE.
It may be this "Kilbride" is the name of a cottage located in the village of Brodick, Arran.

Actually the John McIntyre in that story is my gr grandfather. His father John passed 1904. Neat story. John came to Canada about a year later. He did make a couple of trips back to Scotland and then when his wife came to Canada in the early 30s he and his son had bought ranchland in Saskatchewan. He and his wife returned to arran post 2nd world war.

Apologies, my mistake regarding "Kilbride". Arran is divided into two parishes, Kilmory Parish which covers the west side and Kilbride Parish the east.

I have been back and forth with the museum and they have been an immense help over time. I was not aware of the William Taylor McIntyre and his circumstances. There were a handful of them that served in WW1. His cousin Archie( James M) also served in WW1. Archies younger brother served in WW2 and was imprisoned by the Japanese and was part of the group that the bridge over the river Kwai was based on. He is buried in Thailand.

I note the 1891 census on SP but I cannot find it on family search and my Ancestry membership has expired. The 1891 census may show the above gentleman and others. Have you found that census?
