Elizabeth Hall and John Goreby
« on: Saturday 15 May 21 10:27 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to see the image for the marriage of John Goreby and Elizabeth Hall, 6 February 1722 at Lichfield Cathedral please? I would like to make sure Elizabeth’s name is Hall and not Hill as I have found a 1705 baptism for an Elizabeth Hill at Lichfield and I’m not sure whether to rule it out.
Thanks

I can't see an image of the register, but both Ancestry and FreeReg have transcribed it as HALL. FreeReg notes that the groom is of Middleton.

Definitely Hall

Thanks, all. John and Elizabeth’s son-in-law, John Orme/Arm/Harm, took a Betty Hall as his second wife. Betty was born 1740 in Middleton to Thomas Hall and Elizabeth Turns so I’m open to the idea that Elizabeth Hall, wife of John Goreby, was from the same family.
