1841 Gallatown, South East. Dysart = Forker family, all born in Fife

Alexander 42 a Linen Hand Loom Weaver, Jean 40

Rebecca 18, Thomas 16, Hennrey 14, Christina 9, Alexander 6

No trace of John in 1841, as this census was rounded down he would be recorded as age 15-19, if born 1822.

No birth/baptism record for John or Rebecca on SP

I'm not sure where the Grant family fits in?

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

My additional post including a Grant family was referring to the only Agnes Bailie marriage in Fife between 1821 and 1833. There are no links to this family that I am aware of, but thought it could be a possibility based on the couple's marriage and children's baptism dates (ie Grant children born around time of Adie children -John, William, Andrew, Elisabeth, & Agnes) But wasn't able to confirm any of this.

Since John was buried in 1833 with William Horn, I am currently trying to find a connection with this family to help find his origins.

Hi John! I apologize that I am only seeing your post now, I must have missed it somehow. But I am very excited to see your reply! Thanks so much for the information, it would be amazing to finally connect my mysterious great-grandfather with the William Horn he is said to be buried with. I'd love the chance to swap family trees. Or if it's easier, I could send you my email.

i think the reason that you cannot get the information is the gallatown was under the parish of dysart up until late 1800s

Hi John,
I've searched all births for Fife on Scotlands People from 1820-1834 but John & his four full- siblings have no baptisms recorded. I've tried different spelling variations. It's strange, since his four half-siblings' birth records from 1814-1820 are all available from Dysart. I've looked through the record collections from Fife Family History Society and had their help as well. Either the records are lost or they are filed under the completely wrong name. The marriage between his parents, John Adie Sr. and Agnes Baillie, is also missing.
I do hope to come across at least the marriage record one day since the entry may include some information that could help identify John Sr.'s origin. I'm not sure where he was born, only that he was 38 years-old when he died, a baker, and was buried in the grave of William Horn November 23, 1833 in Dysart. As of now it seems that the only parish records of this family available are after 1844, the first document being the marriage between John Jr. and Rebeckah Forker.

I sent you a private message with my email address

I am researching the Forker family..

Is it possible that Rebekah Forkers (who married John Adie) are Thomas Forker and Rebecca Smith, they married on 25/5/1793

My line is from Christian Forker born 2/3/1806 who is a possible sister to Rebekah

Hi Blairvadach,
Rebeckah Forker (c.1822-1897) was the daughter of Alexander Forker (c.1796-1856) and Jane Spence Thomson (1795-1867). Alexander was the son of Thomas Lonie Forker (1763-1847) and Rebeckah Smith (1763-1840), and possibly the brother of your Christian.

Thomas was son of Alexander Forker (1727-1778) and Christian Lonie. Rebeckah Smith was born in Shetland, but her father and family originated in Orkney.

The spelling Forker/Farker is an anglicized form of Farquhar.

Hope this helps.

I have a family wedding photo from 1901 that I am still trying to identify a handful of people from, please let me know if you'd be interested in taking a look.
