Looking for some advise, hopefully someone can help.
In the Stamford Mercury Newspaper Thursday 12 Dec. 1723, it states “Sir Thomas Coleby, Bart. and George Rook, Esq; son of the late Sir George stand Candidates for the City of Rochester, in the room of Sir Thomas Palmer deceased”.

I would like to try and find out if George Rook(e) won the seat having stood as a candidate for the city of Rochester?

I have written to https://city-of-rochester.org.uk/

Have you checked on the History of Parliament online?

I would post a link but I can’t get it to load at the moment.

Added to say, Sir Thomas Coleby was elected

Thank you. I later checked History of Parliament, no George Rooke mentioned.
I did come up with Sir Thomas Colby, who was elected and shown in the list you've kindly sent.

I was hoping to see in some news paper a write up of the results.
Here's hoping

Thank you for all your replies and information you've kindly given.

Perhaps i was expecting too much about George Rooke and that something may have been written about that election, the fact that George lost and to Sir Thomas Coleby won the seat.

Thanks again.
