« on: Monday 19 April 21 16:14 BST (UK) »
Is there any way of finding out more about these deaths which left 5 orphaned children under 12.
I have had help on this site before about this family and found that  children were in the workhouse .

There may be workhouse entries for the grandparents as well.

If you care to give their names with dates/places of birth and which workhouse the children were in.
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos

The children :  Elizabeth 12/4/1818, John 14/5/1820, William 20/4/1823, Lucy 9/4/1826 and Jane 24/8/1828 who were all born in Weston under Lizard Staffordshire.
I have no details for Elizabeth and John prior to 1841 but then Elizabeth was married and John was a blacksmith and also married.
In 1841 William was at school in St John Street, Parish of St Mary in Bridgnorth which I was  told was connected to the workhouse although I have no further details. He became a shoemaker.
I have nothing at all for Lucy.
In 1841 Jane was a servant with a chemist's family in Darlington Street Wolverhampton.
I don't actually know anything more about the workhouse or which one it was but as the children all learned trades I assumed that is were they wer taught.

No surname quoted in your reply, but assume by looking at Family Search - and your name interests - the parents are John and Hannah BROOM.

Reading Public Members Tree on Ancestry.

Elizabeth BROOME - married Edward HOLT - 6 August 1838, Weston Under Lizard, Staffordshire.

John BROOME married Sarah Anne MORRALL, 22 December 1839, Kemberton, Shropshire.

Thank you for your replies.I already have all the information about the children after 1841 except for Lucy. Wondering if she died.
The information I am looking for is from the death of their parents in 1830 to 1841.

There was a widespread cholera epidemic in the 1830s which may just be the reason for the deaths (but equally may not be of course!)

Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

That sounds like a very probable answer to why both parents died young. It could also be the reason I cannot find any trace of the child Lucy after her birth in 1828.

Have you checked Hannah Broome's burial entry, Feb 21st 1830, age 31?
