Maggie Barr from Donegal
« on: Saturday 17 April 21 10:22 BST (UK) »
Margaret (Maggie) Barr was born on 15 July 1883 in Bauville, Buncrana, County Donegal, her parents were William Barr died 1922 and Mary McGlynn died 1888. In the 1901 Census for Ireland Margaret (Maggie) are still at home in Bauville.

In the 1911 Census for Scotland Maggie was at 23 Balgraybank Street, Springburn, Glasgow. She was staying with her sister Ena (who had married in Springburn in 1907), her family and parents-in-law (Hugh and Mary McAnarney). No occupation was given. Her age was given as 23 years yet she was older. Ena's age was given as 31 years yet she was born in 1876.

A niece of Aunt Ena stayed with her in 1937 and there was no mention of Maggie. I believe she died in Scotland and have no knowledge as to any marriage. As well as Ena who died in 1949 at 587 Edgefauld Road, Springburn, Glasgow; her sister Ellen who died in 1929 was also in Glasgow.

I have no further information on Margaret (Maggie) and would appreciate it if anyone could help to find out what became of her.

It might be an idea to list all the deaths i.e. year, age & place, you've already looked at & discounted as there are quite a few possibilities on the indexes?

Her age seems to fluctuate too i.e. you might need a broader window.

These 2 for her correct yob 1883 +/- 1 (1911 - 1937)

BARR MARGARET 31
1913 - 644/2 644 Camlachie

BARR MARGARET 55
1937 - 644/6 1504 Townhead

HI

I'm currently looking at this family although not related.

Curious about Ena born in 1876.  I have an Anthony born 14 Dec 1876 . https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1876/03034/2112065.pdf

His parents are listed as William Barr & Mary McGlynn of Bauville.

I have all 8 children but do not have Ena.  What date of birth do you have for Ena?

Regards
Marie

Hopefully you'll get a reply as the OP doesn't seem to like queries to specific dates.

Posts from this thread & the other (link above) have not been answered although the OP was last online Sunday 13 February 22 22:55 GMT (UK)

Hi Marie

The 1876 RC parish registers for Desertegney, Donegal show the following entry for Ina:

Anthony's birth reg shows 4 December for his birth rather than 14th.

Did you notice how his birth date is out of order with the entries that follow?

What else is there for Anthony? A marriage, a death? Wondering if the registration of an Anthony for William and Mary was an error? Was this meant to be for Ina (although the date varies as 4th v. 6th December)?

Thanks Monica

I did notice the difference in dates on that sheet for Anthony.

As I cant find anything for Anthony I'm presuming that's an error and should be Ina.

Many Thanks for sharing.
