A long article in September 1928 on late Mrs Alexander Gibb who had been almost a Centenarian. Mentions a son James Gibb in Australia

Follow up to reply #5. When that James Gibb jnr and some other folks from Wishaw arrived in Australia, he was welcomed at party held by 'former Wishawtonians'. He was apparently son of a James Gibb and had travelled on 'the Berrina'.

Thank you ScotMum...some great pointers. I have found the shipping record for James snr, Jeanie and Jessie aboard SS Balranald departing for Australia 23 Dec 1926...confirmation of address in Wishaw as 37 Bute Cres, Belhaven Rd.
Haven't found James jnr but will keep looking in 1921. I still need to find Catherine, William and Agnes. I did assume they would all come out together but I was way out on that one! I've also searched UK incoming for William but I'm not sure he made it back to his homeland. I have to keep an open mind on that.

The article in 1928 pertaining to an Alexander Gibb is not applicable to this family that I know of.

To help narrow down James jnr's arrival, others from Wishaw who travelled on same boat were a Mr and Mrs Archie Newlands and an E Downs.

Ok,  found Archibald Newlands and family and E Downs listed beside them - 10th March 1921 departure from London, boat Berrima rather than Berrina.

Thanks...I have found that passenger list. Jim is recorded as J R Gibb and I'm not sure that he had a second name but the family were in the habit of calling him James jnr. He arrived Sydney aboard SS Berrima 30 Apr 1921...I wouldn't have found him without your help  :)
