no. 8436   rank Sergeant.

Hope this is William Arthur Pay (1865-1941), who later during the Boer War used his name other first name Arthur, to confuse matters ::)

Not seeing a W Pay 8436. I believe this is William Henry Pay 8486. He was wounded on 22 Feb 1900.
