Can I ask where did you see other name Pilley; it does not show on Scotlandspeople site.  Please do not think I am doubting you, just trying to educate myself.

If you search the deaths 1933 put in Euphemia Barclay you will see other surname and put in
Pilley the death will come up ..And just to make sure just put Euphemia death year 1933 age 76 district Roxburgh kelso and the death will come up under both surnames

Thank you for Alexander's details.

Rosie, I am pleased to say the death for Euphemia is correct and the certificate written in beautiful hand except for one detail, daughter Jane's surname.

Euphemia Pilley or Barclay died in Kelso in 1933 aged 76.

Edit: crossed with Rosie's reply with the same information.

There are six deaths after 1911 of George Barclays born 1852 plus or minus two years. The most likely one died in Edinburgh George Square in 1931 aged 78.

Just to say I've downloaded the death certificate for George Barclay suggested above and pleased to say it is my great-great-grandfather so many thanks for your help.

Best wishes
