I think you need to keep an open mind.
There are a multitude of alternative names to consider when searching for ancestors. e.g.
Edward/Neddy
Sarah/Sally
Mary/Mally/Maria/Molly
Margaret/Peggy
Elizabeth/Betty
Ann/Hannah/Agnes/Nancy/Nanny
I have definitely started to keep an open mind by doing this type of research. There have been many varying names I have come across within my family tree, however, in this case, I don't just want to assume Ann is Nancy. I was hoping to find other documentation that can help me corroborate this information is correct.
