I am thrilled to say I have found your pub and someone who will talk to you about it.
I spoke to a local historian who could not help but he suggested I contact the Huddersfield Reference Library.
They have now written back saying
"We initially searched our trade's directories for the time in question and unfortunately there was no entry. This however is sometimes inconclusive as the entrants had to pay for the privilege.
Further to a discussion with a local ex-publican and frequent user of the library who has a broad knowledge of local pubs we have found out that the pub is in fact still there. He states that the building is located on Swallow Lane and is now a private house. We also have a picture of the building dating from 1905 that shows a local hunt gathering outside. Our customer thinks that he may have a list of publicans for the pub and even offered to show you where it is if you live locally. If you wish to obtain a copy of the photo or would like us to ask him for further information please let us know. Alternatively he has given us his telephone number and doesn't object to you contacting him yourself: (I have deleted the number here, but will PM it to you)"
What a great result!
Best wishes
Louise
