The Barracks in Brecon are in The Watton , home of the 24th Regt then just back from the Zulu Wars
The Currragh Barracks are in Ireland now home of the famous Race Course
Crinkle Barracks are also in Ireland

In 1881 the 24th Foot at Brecon became the South Wales Borderers Regt the Museum alongside the Barracks holds 9 of the 11 VC's earned at Rorke's Drift

Brecon Barracks now home of the Royal Welsh Regt and The Gurkhas earmarked for closure.

That's interesting ALAMO2008.  I don't know if he joined in 1881 or before that time.  How can one find out about if they actually took part in campaigns?  Ive only been able to trace his movements from census records and his children's baptism certificates.

I don't know if you have this Marriage Certificate getting married in June Quarter 1883
Brecknock Vol 11b page 143 at St John's which is Brecon Cathedral to Emily J Games
They had 5 Children 1 died

From Marriage Certificate he achieved Full Corporal by 10 April 1883 aged 23 assume he joined when 18 in 1878
He was born along the Marches of Herefordshire  and Birth Registered as Frederick Charles
 by his Parents at Ross December Quarter 1860 Vol 6a page 382 Mother's Maiden Name = George
He was one of 7 I think yet always known as just Charles
Arthur William Llewellyn being the 1st in March 1857 and Hannah Llewellyn in December 1869 the last
His Father George Daniel Llewellyn appears to have been also in the Army as was his Mother Eliza Games from Talgarth Brecon  was a Boot Binder
If Fred joined the 24th Foot Warwickshire Regt in 1878 he may well have fought the Zulus before returning to Brecon to get married.

Don't know if you have his 7 pages of his Army Record as Pte 2347 Frederick Charles Llewellyn who enlisted into the 1st Btn of the 24th Foot at Brecon on 8 December 1880 aged 20 but stated 21
Cpl in April 1883
Lance Sgt 24 Dec 1885
Sgt 21 July 1886

No I don't have his 7 page service record ALAMO2008.  Where do I find that?  That would be great.  I'm doing this research for my Mum, who lived together with Sgt FC Llewellyn's wife after he died,

How do you look up the South Wales Borderers on Ancestry ALAMO2008?  I thought that was for individuals only?
