Suspect the brother of Alexander was called John Gordon.

Aberdeen Press and Journal 30 June 1938 has a photo of John Gordon Stewart , son of John H Stewart, principal science teacher Peterhead Academy. He won an open bursary in the Aberdeen University Arts competition.

Likely birth 1920 Peterhead and death notice in the Press and Journal 24 March 1977 -aged 56 of Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

Spot on, Millmoor.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

John Henderson Stewart left a will and appears in the Probate Calendar for England and Wales

JHS' father was from Redgorton. This https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=818533.0 is another thread about Stewarts from Redgorton.
