Ireland, Catholic Parish Marriages. (nli.)
« on: Friday 12 March 21 22:17 GMT (UK) »
During the period of 1804-1880 I have identified some 30+ Furlong Catholic marriages, containing some 92 Catholic Furlong sibling Issue, in the small Townland of Jamestown, Oylgate, However, throughout the numerous Catholic Parishes I have perused in the nli Catholic Parish Indexes, none provide the parents' name of the parties. It is impossible therefore to reconcile any sibling relationships of Furlong males of any of the above marriages!

I like many researchers have faced many 'brick walls' over 30 + years, and have managed to overcome. But, I realised that at some stage I may face a brick wall, at the end of a cul - de - sac! That time seems to have arrived unless any good person has magic formula to help overcome.  THANK YOU.

Civil registration of Catholic marriages started in 1864 so for marriages 1864-1880 the father's name and occupation should be listed.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi there, I think we corresponded back in 2017?

As for your comments, above, well, welcome to the reality that Irish family historians face all the time!  :(

However, depending on what Christian names ran in the families, you may/should be able to piece the jigsaw back together again. Maybe not 100% of the picture, or with 100% certainty, but I would suggest that you should be able to see the "big picture" emerge.

What you need to do is combine all the following:
- Irish naming patterns, i.e. grandparents names, looking for children born to each couple.
- Names in Tythe Valuation (9 Furlongs, 1826)
- Names in Valuation Office records (2, 1845),
- Names in Griffiths's Valuation (3, 1853), and also subsequent cancelled "rates" books.
- Voter registrations (several 1830s, 40s)
- Newspaper reports (many, e.g. tragic fire in 1837, fisheries bill petition 1855,  etc).
- Memorial Inscriptions (if any)
- Registry of Deeds and Estate records (if any).
- Civil registration records, from 1864.

Put all of that together, and again I think you should be able to form some sort of reasonable picture!
