I also have part of a letter from 1904 (Mary Lydia is still alive),from Thomas Rowland to May saying he is abroad and she should come and join him. He mentions bringing the boys but not Mary Lydia. That he thought he had lost her. He also mentions their wedding day I presume looking back to it?
I think he is in Canada or America.
