I keep seeing the end of the word as trey or frey, though there is no tail to the f and no crossing of the t. Image is awful. Can you request a clearer copy?

Did Daniel and Susannah marry in SAfrica? If so, have you looked for an appropriate marriage there?

Hi Ruskie, I don't think the original was scanned at a high enough resolution, but will ask.
I've been searching for the marriage of Daniel and Susannah in South Africa but have yet to find the correct one. Daniel De Villiers appears to be quite common name.

What happens next in this family....when John Austin BLAKE and Susan De Villers are no longer at Wonthaggi?

Do they have any children?

John Austin BLAKE, painter....and Susan BLAKE are at 9 Scotia St Moonee Ponds Electoral Roll 1909.

Both are free to marry at 1914....why not sooner?.

Witness Esther A(nnie) KEMP is religious sister at Wonthaggi.

I have not found children from that marriage, but have found electoral roll entries for them both from 1927 - 1951. John Blake was also admitted into an asylum for alcoholism by his wife during the 1940s. He died in 1951 and she died in 1952. She left a Will and probate was granted in August 1953.  I'm waiting on PROV to send me the digitised copies .

When you look at the letter "R" in Rite of the Roman Catholic Church, they're quite different. Now looking closer at the "N" in North Wonthaggi, I don't think it's that either.

There was a "Missing Friends" notice put in a Tasmanian Newspaper in 1924 where Susan is looking for her aunt Mrs M Stordeur. She and her husband Adolphe Otto Stordeur were teachers. Her Aunt's maiden name was Oosthuisen, which SHOULD make Susan Blake's mother an Oosthuisen. I'm definitely not seeing that surname on the Marriage cert.

Not that I have found yet JM. I'm not finding any passenger lists for De Villiers (and variants) which mention her or her parents.

Thank you for the link. I have it as a possible. However it does not solve the problem of the maiden name of Susan's mother on the Marriage Cert. I originally posted. I guess Susannah Oosthuisen could have remarried after Daniel died and Susan (the daughter) has recorded the 2nd married name of her mother?

If the family tree https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/MSPX-KZF is the correct family, then she was christened in 1882 in Unionville SA
