If you locate the birth reg, it will confirm the year and the location.

Interesting read - Hugh Robert Johnston was born on 19 January 1894 in Litherland near Liverpool, Lancashire, England, the son of John and Eliza Johnston.  The family home was at 29, Blisworth Street, Litherland, Lancashire.
