Fifth Regiment of Foot enlistments 1780s

I have discovered that an ancestor enlisted into the 5th Foot on 29 January 1782, when the Regiment was in Ireland.   The museum at Alnwick have been very helpful, but their early record book dates from 1800. Can anyone help me to find out more about William Wright, who I know was still serving as a corporal in 1806, albeit in the 24th Regiment to which he and the rest of the soldiers and corporals of the 5th Regiment had been (compulsorily) transferred in Quebec 25 June 1797.
He married Ruth SNU and they had an infant son William who died in Quebec in 1796 and a son Munday born Quebec 1797. Looking for William senior's date and place of birth and anything about his ancestors

Doesn't really help in the present circumstances but the National Archives have muster books for the 5th Foot pre 1800:

That said, these don't generally show any personal information about the soldiers listed.

Thank you Max.   A step in the right direction anyway, though it could be a long wait!

Sadly after more than a year, the National Archives are not able to provide the details of William Wright's enlistment into the 5th Foot Regiment.   They were in Ireland at the time, 25 January 1782.
Nor can I find his demob or death as a member of the 24th Regiment of Foot probably early in the 1800s.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I have also been looking into William Wright although unfortunately, I can't help you get any further. However, I believe my 3rd Great Grandmother Sarah Wright might also be his daughter. She was born in Kingston, Canada C1788 and married John Brocksop in Derby in 1809. The reason I think that Sarah is Mundy's sister is because her daughter Frances Brocksop married Frederick Wright in 1877- who I think was her cousin. Interestingly Ancestry DNA also shows that I am related to a Catherine Wight born in North America in 1796 and living in Derby on the 1841 and 1851 census' so she could be another sibling.

I did not know that William enlisted in Ireland or that he was still in the army in 1806, this is very interesting to me. If Mundy, Cathine and Sarah are all siblings then perhaps William retired in Derby? like you I would love to know more of the story.
