Once again thanks everyone for your help. I’ve been trying to digest all the information that was found.
I have a query.
It was posted that a Bridget Fitzpatrick married a John Byrne in 1873
but in the article dated 1892 it mentions John and E Byrne
and it is mentioned a daughter Elizabeth dies in 1883 of lung problems

Refering back to post #5.
Mary Bryne dies in NSW and the newspaper says mother is E. Byrne, but the death record has parents as Bridget and John. Yes, confusing.
I believe the Elizabeth who died 1883 is a different daughter - probably not married.

I would say the letter E ( E. BYRNE) in the newspaper report is a typographical error on behalf of the newspaper.

There was only one Mary BYRNE who died in that year at Broken Hill with father John and her mother's name was Bridget.

 :)

Hi,  some questions or consideration ... perhaps rhetorical only.

 :D could the newspaper have a typo ... E instead of B

:D could Bridget have been known as Biddy ?   If so,  what if that was Mis heard as Libby?  And then others presumed Libby was her nickname for Elizabeth.

Just a thought or two

JM

Thank you for everyone’s help.
I have been searching for the past couple of days and came across Mary Fitzpaticks will. It mentions 2 more Chn. William and John.
I’ve also been also trying to find when John and Mary arrived in Aust and from where they came.
From the info provided Mary must have been born about 1822 and immigrated 1850 at age 28
If I have the correct John who died May 23 1900, he would have been born about 1816 and immigrated 1845 at age 29

I found a mention in the papers of a Mary and Kate Smyth arriving Adelaide 1851 onboard CANDAHAR. I then could not find a passenger list to check ages, etc. , but you might have more luck.

In May 1891 a John Fitzpatrick, 73y from Auburn was admitted to the RAH. He was a shepherd who’d arrived 41 years earlier from Ireland on the "Agincourt".

He’s #830 on the following page: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS6D-8SJR-7
