How successful is DNA in helping British & Irish adoptees (and other people of unknown parentage) find their biological family? That’s what this survey aims to find out.

If you or one (or both) of your parents were born in Britain or Ireland and you have taken a DNA test, then please complete the 14 questions in this brief survey. It takes about two minutes to complete and the results will help inform future research. (Please note that NO identifying information is stored - it is completely anonymous).

Can you answer on behalf of an adoptee who is deceased? It's just that it seems such a worthy survey and all info would be useful although quite understand if it has to the adoptee themselves for DP reasons.

 my grandmother was an adoptee & my.mothers dna led to proof of the birth father .

My.dna would have.led to same.conclusion .

Flemming and Brigidmac Yes we would welcome a response from people acting on behalf of a deceased adoptee but it would be helpful if you could mention that when you complete the survey.

Sorry I stand corrected. The survey is just limited to living people. Historical cases would be an interesting subject for a future survey.

They can throw it away
