Regiment identification

I have just had this family photo given to me but I know nothing about it , could anyone identify the cap badge or regiment ?

It's the King's Liverpool Regiment.

West Yorks had all its legs on the ground and was wider.

Well— at first glance yes but I have just got out a folder my grandson made, the badge from Dad’s blazer is there ,among other keepsakes.
Now I am not so certain, the bottom part where it says “ KINGS” is sort of scalloped , the photo you sent has only one dip in the middle. there is a bar above that alternate black and white .
The tail is carried fairly high.
The front legs are a bit higher than the back but not a full prance.
You can see all four legs .

The soldier is from one the King's Liverpool's territorial battalions.  He is in either the  7th or 9th Battalions.

Yes, Dad was in the 2/7 th ,number 269558.
Had been in The Derby Scheme I believe ,he had another number , 8278.
On Army Form B 104-83, which notified his family he was missing ,but not to presume he was killed it says - Territorial Force Record Office Preston .
Dated 7/5/17.
