You could also check if there are any obituaries for Adam.  I'm not sure of the local Edinburgh newspaper at the time.
Nothing in the British Newspaper archive

Wills registered after 1925

Wills registered between 1925 and 1997 have not been digitised and may only be consulted in the Historical Search Room at the National Records of Scotland. The printed Calendar of Confirmations is the yearly index to these wills. See the National Records of Scotland's guide on wills and testaments for further information.

Wills dating from 1997 have not yet been transferred to the National Records of Scotland. For further information you should contact the Commissary Department, Edinburgh Sheriff Court, 27 Chambers Street, Edinburgh EH1 1LB.

Tsu - It will be closed at the moment because of Covid restrictions. You could do a death search on SP with the other wives' surnames and a broad birthdate (covering the period when they were married)  , as I did with  Turnbull.

Just to say that he can be found in the electoral rolls but you need to search under the name Macdonald. I found that searching by putting 14 A Meadowbank Terrace in the keyword box it seemed to bring all the registers up. ( Leave the year blank). I cannot see any for Macdonald at that address after 1940 - I think any children would be too young for the registers.

The rolls show Meadowbank Terrace to be in Canongate Ward. It is in the Abbeyhill area of the city and actually not that far from Holyrood.

It's the children that Tsu is looking for. He died in 1942.  She has his death cert and all the marriage info.

Suggest you read reply 19, Gadget. My post was a response to that. As I am Edinburgh born and bred I can help with the geography!

That was about the registration of possible children. The Meadowbank address was in Canongate. He seemed to have remained there.
