I wonder if this was the Randolph in question:  http://dreadnoughtproject.org/tfs/index.php/Randolph_Divett

It looks like they emigrated shortly after the above Randolph was dismissed from the Navy.  The WWI draft registration card I found has his date of birth as 17 May 1881, which is off on the year but fits the day and month of the above Randolph.
