Hi,
I just moved into a house that was built by Richard Conlan on the land of his uncle, Edward Conlan, who had left it to him in his will. This Richard was born in Brownstown. I’m trying to trace the history of the house. Edward was a JP who was involved in the Land Acts, leading the local tenants to resist paying exorbitant rents to absentee landlords. Apparently his funeral was one of the biggest ever in the Curragh. Richard built the house around 1910 and I have a newspaper article saying he sold it in 1927. Does anyone know who might have bought it from him? Who was the architect? Btw this Dick was the son of Richard and Ann Jane Hyland. Where did he go after he sold the house?
