I am now happily ensconced in reports of murders, assaults and 'furious' driving in 1840s Hull  ;D

Welcome to rootschat from me too.  I noticed your name and it reminded me of a little boy in my class at Ainthorpe Infant/Junior school in the 1940s by name of Sydney Cuthbertson.

My name is Cuthbert,no 'son on the end.  I've had everything from Cuthbertson, Custer, Custard! haha.

I bet you have an interesting time tracing the line backward in time (Maybe with even more changes in spelling when it nears its origins).
