'Chuffs is a very impressive looking pile - set in six acres. The Times, 29 Dec 1942, carried an ad. that referred to the "recent" sale of "Chuffs, Holyport, Berks" by Estate Agents Messrs F L Mercer -but the only sale I can spot is 1936.'
When I was looking through a local paper at house sales, often the name of the house was not mentioned, and the description is just 'close to xxx', and 5 miles from xxx gives you quite a few houses.
However, to an estate agent trying to sell their services, 1936 is close to 1942?
