In this context a land is a tenement block, possibly a stair with two flats at each level and a communal green at the back. Very often a land is named after its proprietor, or sometimes after a prominent tenant.
The Valuation Rolls at
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk list Kellys Land, Baillieston, Old Monkland from 1875 onwards. In 1875 there were six households, in 1885 there were ten and in 1895 there were eight.
One of those listed in both 1885 and 1895 was William Kirkwood. In 1875 there was an Edward Lafferty. I found both of those listed as heads of household in 1881 in Kelley Land, Old Monkland in Enumeration District 7.

What I suggest is that you go to
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and look up in the 1891 census Johann Kirkwood, aged 16, reference Old Monkland 652/1 7/ 30. Alternatively look up your own family member, if (s)he was born after the 1881 and before the 1911 census, in the nearest census to the birth date. Once you have viewed the census page, you can view a detailed description of the ED by clicking on 'View Header' at top left above the image.
