There was a James Pope living in the Hendon reg district in 1881 who was around the same age as your James - he was single - probably his death you have found

1881 ref - RG11 Piece 1365 Folio 32 Page 58

Rosie,
Many thanks for that James Pope living in the Hendon reg district in 1881.

You illustrate to me the great value of Rootchat as two [or more] heads are much better than one [mine].  Well I will now have to try again for his death!

That seems to count against my James POPE as he shows up at his home.
James Pope

Going back to Mary Trevet. I think Robert and Mary for parents most likely the other one is a bit young.
Robert Trevet married Mary Hansford at Puncknowle on 26 Dec 1768. If correct Mary Trevet is likely to have few older siblings

Daughter Lydia [my Grandmother aged 18] was training to become a Nun with the RC Poor Clares Order.  Perhaps she was the more organised person in the household and responsible for filling in all the family's forms!

Lizzie,
That is good thinking about Banns and Marriages in both couples' Parishes.
I have been slow to update my Ancestry tree with so many new people to explore [spellings allowed] I have 'too many balls in the air' and too many laptop pages open!
Did I send you "The Maybee Society"?  Easy to get lost here with all the spelling variables.
