PRIDDY families in Dorset early 1800's. Where have they all gone?

There was a James Pope living in the Hendon reg district in 1881 who was around the same age as your James - he was single - possibly his death you have found

You illustrate to me the great value of Rootchat as two [or more] heads are much better than one [mine].  Well I will now have to try again for his death!

That seems to count against my James POPE as he shows up at his home.

Does the marriage of James & Hannah give any indication as to whether they were single.  Were there any witnesses

Am I looking at their son James Borough Pope born 1844 Bermondsey- if so on the GRO mmn is Mabey. Could Hannah have been a widow ? Can you check their other children’s births?

Ellen Hannah born 1840 according to baptism, but can't find birth reg

On familysearch.org Surrey parish registers
 I found a marriage between William Priddy and Hannah Mabey on 9th February 1827 at St Marys Church Rotherhithe
Both were single
Witnesses Charlotte Priddy and Henry Mabey
There is a burial of a William Priddy in Stepney in May of that year - May have been him.

Is this a clue or complete red herring

Is this something to do with Hannah’s family a Mary Mabey B.1785 Lother Dorset I suspect this should read Loders which is a couple of miles from Bridport. She is with her son Henry ( born Rotherhithe) and his family

1. This certainly looks promising especially if William dies so soon after the marriage.
2. The MABEY link to Loders Dorset which is only 3-4 miles from Burton Bradstock which Hannah states on at least two census returns.

I will also track the other POPE family in St Mark's Crescent. [my Father used to live in this road in the 1960's].

The Hannah who died in Ramsgate late of St Mark's Crescent was Hannah Leadbeater, her first husband was James King occ ornithologist. They married on 23 May 1840 at St James Westminster. Her father was John King cabinet maker. Witnesses John Leadbeater and Lucy Leadbeater. On 1851 census there is a John Leadbeater and wife Lucy in Westminster. John is similar age to Hannah and also an ornithologist, might be the witnesses.
Hannah (as Hannah King) married Thomas Pope(widower, gent)  on 27 May 1851 at St Mark, Kennington.
Unfortunately Hannah is widowed again by 1861, living in Westminster occ lodging house keeper. Thomas Pope might be a bit more difficult to trace. On marriage record, his father was Thomas Pope deceased, his residence was Kennington and he was of full age
