Trying to trace records of Augustus Thomas Walter served in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire light infantry in the 1st world war,

I can’t see any surviving records for him, you will be lucky to find any. Between 60% and 70% of WW1 records were lost in WW2.

The Hartland and West Country Chronicle of 21 June 1918 reports that he was exempted from service until June 30th at the Barnstaple Appeal Tribunal - the last of several appearances at the tribunal.

I also see that the newspaper announcements of his marriage in 1921 and the birth of a son in 1924 have him as Thomas Augustus Walter.

I didn't find him on the medal rolls or in the medal index cards so presumably he didn't serve overseas.
