Hi Niccorr,
Are you based in NI?, I ask because my Letitia married a Patrick Graham and in the 1870 Belfast street directory they are at Hopewell St, this profession is given as "traveller".  What would an NI interpretation be of this description?
Thanks for doing a bit of digging.
Michael

A traveller was someone who travelled about (salesman or representative for a company/companies)- sometimes listed as a commercial traveller.
That was one of my thoughts, the other was that he belonged to the Travelling Community.  Although he married in Glenavy, and there are other Graham, Grahams & McGraham entries in Glenavy & Ballinderry records I cannot connect him to any of these, so was wondering if he came from elsewhere.
On another tack, I am trying to plot the McGarry's on a map, I seem to have 2 Ballymacrevan townlands, 1 adjacent to Ballyshanaghill townland and the other between Aghadolan & Ballymacricket townlands.

Hi Michael Susan married a Robert Mc Garry Think John Magee is right as Patrick would have only been 16/17 in 1880 Have family records for the Magee and Mc Cann families and I have bits and pieces of Mc Garry info as they are intertwined everywhere Will do a bit of looking at what I have and work backways
Hi Susan, I have Robert in my lists, he was the son of Felix & Mary Jane McGarry (nee Irwin), baptised in St Joseph's on 23/6/1850, godparents James McGarry & Jane ??.  Susan was his 3rd wife, m 20/4/1891, his 1st wife was Catherine Courtney m 12/1/1870 and 2nd was Eliza Hamilton m 5/7/1873.  I need to check back my records, I believe Felix was the son of Derby McGarry and I think Derby came from north of Antrim town which would indicate that Robert & Susan came from separate McGarry lines.  There was a Derby McGarry in Langarve townland in the 1826 Tithe records & a Felix in both Ballyvollen & Ballymacrevan townlands in the 1862 Griffiths records.

If you put Ballymacrevan in the search box of https://www.townlands.ie/, you only come up with one townland i.e. in the civil parish of Camlin. The townland is west of Crumlin and near Langford Lodge.

However if you enter Ballinderry in the search box, you have the civil parish in Co Antrim. One of the townlands is Balymacrevan (one 'l') which is SW of Glenavy and near Portmore Lough.

I have been using the townlands site to try to map them to the Ordnance Survey, Sheets 14 & 20 (Discoverer series) and in my defence the OS map (14) shows Ballymacrevan just below Carrols Bridge, I then assumed...   Under the definition of each townland there is the option to call up the 1901/1911 census entries, Ballymacrevan (Camlin) gives the details, but Balymacrevan (the other one) returns "No Results" for both census', did/does no-one live in that particular area??

Hi, I recognise the Colgan & Coney names and I'm pretty sure I have seen Ardboe in my spreadsheets.  This detail you are giving me is certainly helping me to sort through my files.
I was born and raised in Greenock Scotland, but became an economic migrant and moved to London in 1962, so I am familiar with terminology etc of Scotland and it is handy to have someone familiar with the area where our ancestors lived.  On that front, I am assuming that the "Cassie" you mentioned earlier is a Catherine.  Thanks Michael

Hi Niccorr - Your info has helped me sort out some of the detail I have.  These McGarrys/Magees/McCanns are properly entwined!!  Are you ready for this?
Mary Jane McGarry (your step granny) was a niece of Robert McGarry (your step great grandfather).
Your real granny's brother John McCann married (22/10/1908) a Margaret McGarry who was a daughter of Robert McGarry (from his second marriage).
John McGarry (married to Bridget Coney), is Robert's brother.
Now looking for the McAreavey link, I have male McGarry's marrying femaie McAreavey's, but not the other way round.
Michael
