My husband is a Bates. According to Ancestry tree he is 2nd cousin 3x removed of Joseph William.
Will have a look later for some of those other names.

Are you still looking for information about the Bates family? I am related to them. My dad's family lived in Forty Green, and he was descended from Emma Bates. I knew Dorothy Bates, who died a few years ago. I have a family tree which was prepared many years ago, but I'm trying to find out more about how Dorothy was related to me.
