Love letter from France

Hi
I am doing a write up for Remembrance Day. This post card was sent from my grandmother to my grandfather. I am having difficulty deciphering  her handwriting.
My grandfathers name was Les and her’s was Florence. She signed this Florrie/ Flo which she was known by.

I don’t see this as a love letter, more of fondness perhaps, though he has sent 35 letters so he seems keen.

                      June 24th
Received your 34th
letter tonight detained on
the journey had the
35th yesterday.
I have been down to t—-
and find the lat(?) but no
success yours affect

I wonder if that word starting with l might be “last” - scribbled a bit so she missed out the s. She is talking about the letters so maybe referring to the last letter she tried to find. Unsure if that makes sense.

I read - I have been down to try and find the hat  but no success .
Looking at the "h" of had and have earlier on the card could that first letter be an "h"?
And could Les or Florrie have lost a hat !
