Who could Ann Lane be?  I’m wondering whether it’s William’s wife but then again the surname Lane

I cant see a connection for Ann Lane and William Cooper yet. I have tried to connect them.

Remember Census are just a snapshot of that night and William may have not lived there at that address permanently.

So this William Cooper is married to Ann Lane’s sister?  I’ve been trying to figure this out

Yes looks like it.

You would have to find a Marriage for a Ann to a Mr Lane and and a Marriage for William to that Anns Sister.  (Ann and Wiliams Wife would have the same maiden name)

Hi,

I had a quick look before I dashed off to work and I did find a marriage for a William Cooper to a Mary Lane.  So maybe Ann Lane never married.  I’ll have to try find it again.  I’m just unsure of the area in Derbyshire (I’ll try find it)

She was a widow in 1851 though

On the 1851 census I’m not sure whether Ann is a widow as it could be a U for unmarried (comparing the letter to the other widows and unmarried)
