John McPhee Henderson

John McPhee Henderson was born 26 June 1933 at the Perth Poorhouse 32 Glasgow Road Perth Perthshire to Jessie Henderson. No other details given on his Birth Certificate, He was left at the House and was later fostered Out.

Does anyone have access to these records, that could look this entry up for me. John's wife Pat and his daughter Sue would really like to find out some information on his background as they do not have anything to tell Sue's children.  He met his mother Jessie later a couple of times, the last when he was about 12 she was remarried then. Jessie was a domestic Servant in the Perthshire Area. He thought that she was Married in the Couper Angus Area but they are not sure. That is all the family knows about her.  He married in Scotland and in 1970 Emigrated to Perth Western Australia where he passed away. Thank You.

As this is less than 100 years ago, the strong probability is that even if the records have survived they are still closed for research.

As a first step, try https://www.culturepk.org.uk/archive-local-family-history/ and if the records you are interested in are not in their online catalogue, contact them and ask if they know where the records of Perth Poorhouse are.

Well I spent the rest of yesterday going through it all. but they do not have the Records and do not know who does. So I am none the wiser. But thanks for that anyway.

I do not know anything about Scottish research. I am just trying to help Pat and her daughter Sue find  information on John McPhee Henderson's Family background for the grandchildren. Any type of help or information on his mother Jessie Henderson would be greatly appreciated. They do not even know where she was born or her parents names.

Oh, I doubt very much if they would have the records, but I thought perhaps you might contact them and ask if they know what became of the records of Perth Poorhouse.

Though I have to admit to being surprised that the Perth and Kinross Archives couldn't tell you whether or not these records have survived, and if they don't know, it is quite likely that the records have been lost without trace.

 But I did contact them. And I was told no online service was available. But they said that they did not know who had the records. They said that they could be in the National Archives I checked that out. But I do not have a credited card so I am once again back to the drawing board. Because I did not have a credit card, or a members card I could not even see if they had the records.
