Need help finding George Goldstraw B.1800

Hi, I"m new to the site andgenealogy so I'm still finding my feet. I've been looking into the life of my Great Great Great Grandfather, George Goldstraw. According to his death certificate, he was born in Staffordshire. I do not know his parents names unfortunately. He came to Australia (we're not sure if he was an emigrant or a convict) and was married to the widow Jane Cowl (nee Robinson) in Launceston in 1838. On his death certificate, it states that he was 40 years old when he married. I'm trying to find his birth certificate and family connections in Staffordshire. What other information would I need to collect to lead me back to his English heritage?  Many thanks in advance. Helen

George Goldstraw;  Born circa 1800 – 1812 Leeds Staffordshire [sic family legend: may be Leek Staffs or Leeds].
Died 1870 near Warrnambool, Victoria.
He departed Liverpool on 24th April 1830 on the “Juno" as a free passenger [steerage] & arrived Hobart Town, Van Diemans Land,. 7th Nov 1830
Ancestor to a large family of Australian Goldstraws.

F M P has a possible baptism in Cheddleton in 1801, son of Solomon and Mary.

Thank you so much for the information and the welcome, Ev. This really helped. I was able to look up the Tasmanian Newspapers online and find the ship arrival announcement in several newspapers. I  discovered that his name had been mispelled in every newspaper (different spelling per paper). Once I worked this out, I was able to identify his arrival in the Tasmanian Archives. If it hadn't been for the lead you sent, I would have been looking for years!
