Just as guess as the image is not too clear - both aged in their 30s perhaps?
She appears to be wearing a wedding ring.

I've had to use a lot of filters as the original was so small. This includes a slight texture. I hope it's OK.

Gadget,
WOW, you’re amazing, your work is terrific, fast and I love both images, just got to work out who they are.
You did some great work on photos many years ago for me when I got into family history in 2007.

Thanks again

So glad you llike them  :)

I've not done many restores for a while, Margaret. I had eye problems so withdrew for a while. I took up glass art but the virus has prevented me from that as I use communal studio premises. I've started restoring again as a substitute  :)

Is that a wrist-watch on her arm? When did women start wearing wrist-watches?

Reliable wrist watches appeared between 1890 and 1920, when two trends intersected:

First, miniaturization allowed to shrink the size of mechanisms in pocket watches, and around the late 19th century watchmakers eventually managed to fit mechanisms into women's jewelry bracelets and pendants.

I'm not sure it is a watch as it's pushed far up the arm. I'll see if I can get a better image but I've enlarged it as far as it will go without pixellation.
