I am seeking information about John Pettigrew and Agnes Campbell/Campble of Mowillin townland, Derrynoose parish.

Who are their parents?  Are there birth/baptism records for them?  Where and when did they marry?

They married either in the late 1700s or soon after 1800.  The earliest Co. Armagh record I have for them is a baptism record for a daughter.

24 Mar 1811: At Keady Church of Ireland: Martha daugher of John and Agnes Pettycrew of Mowillin in Derrynoose Parish.

These may be for the same John:

1796 Flax Growers List for County Armagh
Derrynoose: John Petticrew

1825 Tithe Applotment Book for Derrynoose Parish by Townland
Mowillin: John Pettigrew

What is currently verified for John and Agnes Pettigrew are some of their children who emigrated to America, their births and deaths:

Born 8 Mar 1809: George Pettigrew, died 4 Apr 1896 in Latham, Moniteau County, Missouri.
Born Mar 1811: Martha Pettigrew, married and died 1901 in Missouri.
Born 5 Apr 1813: Reverend Samuel Pettigrew, died 21 Nov 1895 in St. Louis, Missouri.

That their mother's name was Campbell or Campble comes from this bio for Samuel:

https://books.google.com/books?id=RadVAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA365

George was married in Ireland:
1840: George Pettigrew and Anne Hall

Anne went variously by Agnes and Nancy.  From 1841 to 1848 she and George had 3 sons (John, James, Samuel) and 3 daughters (Martha, Mary Jane, Agnes.)  More children were born in America.

The details sketched above are what I know about John and Agnes (Campbell) Pettigrew.  I am interested in finding their parents, when John and Agnes were born, and when and where they died.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Sorry about that omission.

Also, I did have the full marriage record after all, for George, son of John and Agnes:

27 Feb 1840: At Derrynoose Church of Ireland: George Pettigrew and Anne Hall (father a Hall) both of Mowillin and with witnesses John Hall and John McCartin.

So, Church of Ireland for the religion.  That squares also with the baptism records for the 6 children of George and Anne, b. 1841-48, where the children were all baptized at the Derrynoose Church of Ireland.

In the 1841 baptism record George's occupation was weaver; his residence is Ravenhill.  In the rest of the baptism records his occupation is farmer, residence Mowillin.

Thanks.

Firstly, Mowillin townland NNW of the town of Keady.

Ravenhill is likely in the townland of Knockrevan.

Thank you.  That is very helpful.  I see that Knockrevan/Ravenhill is an adjacent townland to Mowillin.

My 2xgrgrandmother, Margaret Moan Irwin, who was from Mowillan, Derrynoose, had a brother William who married an Elizabeth Pettigrew in Derrynoose in 1853.  After a few years, the Moans moved to Durham, England where William worked as a coalminer.

Hello from Tom Flessa in the United States, St. Louis, Missouri!

I found you on this website while searching for data on Familysearch.org and when I needed to go outside of that lack of information, thankfully you had requested information. Perhaps I can help with my personal experience with the Pettigrew family.

My Grandmother, Iva N McDonald Flessa became widowed at a young age with two very young boys, the eldest, my Father, Calvin Lowell and youngest, Donald Gene. They lived in an area of Moniteau County in Central Missouri on a farm, not too far away from the Griffins. Lawrence Pettigrew Griffin was born in 1888 and died in 1973. He and my Grandmother were married in 1937.
Grandpa Griffin was a wonderful man of strong faith and a gentle nature. His parents are William Chewning Griffin 1858-1928 and his Mother is Cora Marie Pettigrew 1864-1949. Cora's parents are George Alexander Pettigrew Sr. 1809-1896 and Nancy Agnes Hall 1819-1895, his parents are listed as John Pettigrew and Agnes Campbell.

George was born 08 March 1809 County Armagh, Ireland and died 07 April 1896 Latham Missouri Moniteau County, Missouri
Nancy was born 25 December 1819 County Armagh, Ireland and died 23 March 1895 in Latham, Missouri Moniteau County
My records show that they had 12 children. John, Martha, James, Samuel, Mary Jane, Sarah, Agnes, Elizabeth, Matilda, George, Margaret and Cora.

John and Agnes Campbell Pettigrew were the parents of two boys, George Alexander Pettigrew and Samuel Pettigrew 05 April 1813 Armagh County, Ireland and died 21 November 1895 St. Louis, Missouri. Samuel immigrated to the United States from Ireland 29 July 1834 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States 26 July 1851. He married Catherine Flaherty 1835-1892 and they had six children, Francis, Cora, George, Edward, Daisy and Katy Pettigrew.

The Griffin family arrived in North America from England. The first being Thomas Griffin of Warwickshire born 1620-1660 where he died at Farnham Parish Rappahannock, Virginia-British Colonial America. His wife, Sarah Clare, was born about 1630 Wicomico, Northumberland, Virginia and died 14 December 1700 Henrico, Virginia, British Colonial America.

William Chewning Griffin was born in Freeberg St. Clair, Illinois, USA 23 April 1857-23 March 1928 Latham, Missouri, Moniteau County.
Cora Maria Pettigrew was born 09 July 1864 Moniteau County, Missouri and died 10 October 1949.

They had seven children, Constance,(Connie), Amy, Lawrence, (LP), Mabel, Harold, Ada and Wilford.

Cheers and Kind Regards,

Tom Flessa
