can anyone locate a John Hawley Born 1835/1836 Heck nr Snaith
on the 1881/1891 census please

I assume this is John and you may have this information if it is correct but it might help others I can find nothing after 1871 so far.

Both in West Yorkshire.

1861 John 28 born Heck Ag Lab Lodger in Darton nr Barnsley.
1871 36 born Heck Crosby Garrett, Westmorland.

Hi John Hawley married Mary Bellwood 20.2.1864 Pollington, his father James

A son is born in 1865 John George Hawley mmn Bellwood reg dist Goole

1871 census Mary(shown as married) and son John in the household of her parents John & Elizabeth Bellwood.

By 1881 Mary is the "wife" of George Brook with son John G H (Hawley) Brook,
ref 4590 49 12

Mary can be found in 1891/1901/1911 census and dies in Pontefract aged 72 in 1914.

The image records his mother's maiden name as Hague.

Parents marriage by banns 3.6.1833 Wormersley

James Hawley of Womersley & Frances Haigh  James signed Frances with an X

Witnesses, James Hague - signed  & Elizabeth Haigh with an X

I have looked for John after 1871 and believe there may well be evidence he went to the United States. It may be worth posting this as a link on US board.

he may have emigrated to where i dont know
found John Hawley on the 1861/1871 census
but after that nothing

On the 1901 census there is a John Hawley born 1831 in Snaith living in Warter, Pocklington.  Have you ruled him out?

This death fits with 1901 census, but not, obviously with 1834 birth:

Deaths of John Hawley age 78 in Pocklington in June quarter 1908

How can you know/prove which John wherever you find him?
