There is a 1891 census of John and Margaret and children including a James that has the parents being born in Ireland
Hello Biggles50
Sorry to take so long to reply but I have been doing a bit more researching and I now see that other people have found the records that I have now found.
I have a DNA match to a person who is descended from the son (George Thomas Higgins born 1910 in St John, New Brunswick, Canada ) of James Higgins and Catherine Corrigan who married in 1904 at St John, New Brunswick. That is all my DNA match knew plus James Higgins had a brother William Higgins.
I was interested to find out where the connection was as I am a HIGGINS and my HIGGINS are from Kilmovee, County Mayo. I also have Corrigan matches as well.
I found the 1891 Census with Margaret 39 with sons John 20. William 21, James 6, Nathan 4 and George 2. Then I found a John aged 38 who had died in 1908 whose father was John Higgins born in Ireland. Then I found Margaret again in 1911 but born Aug 1862 with William born Sep 1891 at 112 City Road, New Brunswick. Margaret is a Widow and Roman Catholic. So I thought John Higgins must have died before 1911.
Then I found the Death Record of Margaret Higgins on 29 Sept 1932 which said she was a Widow of 192 Millidge Avenue St John. Husband was John H Higgins. Margaret's father was William Connell and mother Martha Darrah Birthplace unknown. Informant was James Higgins of 192 Millidge Avenue, St John.
So then I looked for a Death Record of John H Higgins and found he had died on 7 May 1922 at G.P Hospital and he was from 83 Simond Street, St John. His father was Nathan Higgins born in Boston Massachusetts and his mother was Sarah Campbell born in Scotland. Informant was William Higgins of 97 Adelaide Street, St John.
I found a Census in 1921 with John Higgins age 71 yrs and Margaret 69 yrs living at 83 Simonds Street, St John.
I found James Higgins and Catherine Corrigan and children on 1911 and 1921 Census living at Millidge Avenue, St John and George Thomas was 5months old in 1911 and 10 yrs old in 1921. So I have the Correct James Higgins and Catherine Corrigan and George Thomas Higgins. Not too sure about the Margaret in 1891 and 1911 being the same Margaret???
I have been looking for a Death Record for James Higgins as that might give his father and mother.
I found an Army Record for him which gave his Birth Date as 27 December 1885 and his wife Catherine.
Yesterday I found George H Higgins 20 with wife Betty with George's father John H Higgins in Millidge Avenue in 1911. This George looks like the one on 1891 Census with Margaret.
I found George and Bessie's marriage. Bessie was Bessie Cunningham but signed her name Bessie Corrigan???
I need to figure out if I have a whole family. If I have Margaret seems to be flitting about between her sons!!!!
Thanks everyone for replying.
