Anyone else keep getting these messages from Findmypast.  I don't mind them suggesting people who could be ancestors, when I've been searching for them, but to make suggestions which bear no resemblance to any searches I've made - apart from the name - is ridiculous.  What is the point of asking "Is this the same person", if there's no option to say yes or no.

At least with Ancestry you get the option to ignore the suggestion, or accept it as being your ancestor.

I am not getting those messages, perhaps I should keep quiet in case they start

I've just been onto the FindMyPast website and found there are options available for the type of email you get from them, under "Customise your Communications", which is under "My Account, Communication Preferences" One of the options was "Get the latest record matches to help you grow your family tree" so I've now clicked on "No thanks".  Hopefully that will stop these silly messages.

Not just me then.  I suppose the suggestions are computer generated and as I don't have a tree on FindMyPast, they are just going by a name I've searched for.

I do not have a tree on FindMyPast either,so you may be right,computer generated from a name searched.

You can check that in the My Account section under Communication Preferences. The very first section is hints and mine is turned off.  So I never get any.

Now I know why I was not getting them,  I already had it turned off
