Hi all , my question is about the British expeditionary force , I'm trying to find out when our forces
were first sent there , and if the H.L.I took part.

According to Wikipedia:
The 1st Battalion, Highland Light Infantry, landed in France in September 1939 as part of the 127th (Manchester) Brigade in the 42nd (East Lancashire) Division for service with the British Expeditionary Force and then took part in the Dunkirk evacuation in June 1940.

Thank you KGarrard for the link about the BEF really has tied the photos' I have of my Dad's time with the HLI 1939 - 1946.
