I checked the Book of Remembrance for Thornton Crematorium, which they have kindly put online (wish more crematoria would do this) , but it doesn't look like the family chose to have an entry.

Thanks guys. It looks like the Thornton one is the most likely. Not being from the area I didn’t even think of looking in that direction even though I know how close it is.  ::)
I'm going to email them and see if they can confirm any extra information so I can pin it down for definite.
Thanks for looking Tickettyboo, I looked myself in the hope I'd find something.

Thank you so much, I'd hit a wall and you've all been most helpful.  ;D

It doesn't help searching when the FS catalogue has the area down as 'Sephton' rather than Sefton :-)

I do think the record is in the 'quite likely category' but agree that confirmation of the address at the time of death would be good.

The cremation number and the date of death, would, I'd guess, make it easier for them to check.
Not sure what info they normally give out, but if Registrars are anything to go by then given the name, cremation number and d.o.d. and a query asking if this lady's address at the time of her death was xxx would enable them to confirm or deny.
Fingers crossed you get the confirmation you need.
