My Francis line are all from the Wirral way back, I agree with all your findings. I had missed a child off one of my lines and he and his brother both had daughters with the same Christian name within a couple years of each other. I had contact from a 2nd cousin who named his grandad and that exposed my error. Whilst investigating the error, I came across these other Francis families and thought I would follow them to see if they connected, but to my mind they won't do so. I believe, but have not yet found evidence, that my family had origins on the IOM.
