Deciphering names on italian marriage certificate help please!
« on: Thursday 06 August 20 06:55 BST (UK) »
Hi,

No translation needed - I just want confirmation of the names circled.

The first is the surname of the bride. The second and third are the last name and first name of the bride's mother.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jenni

Hi Jenni,

I'm no expert on things Italian  :D but at least this will bump the thread a little.

To me, the bride's name looks like Sertorelli.

Not sure about her mum's name.
Edit: All I can see is Canetini de rafina, which I don't think makes much sense...

Let's see what other people think.

Best regards,
Karen

I agree with Sertorelli, and Canetini would be my best guess for the mother's surname. I think the forename is probably Serafina, split over two lines.

I think the forename is probably Serafina, split over two lines.

:-[ Oops. I didn't see the little continuation squiggle (what's it called officially?!  :D) under the beginning of the forename.  :-[
I wonder why they split the name like that? Maybe they were not allowed to leave enough space for something to be added at a later date?  ???

Thanks,
Karen

Thank you both!  This makes sense to me and is probably going to be the best we can get. Just great to fill another gap on my relative's tree.

I appreciate your efforts!

Just an update on this - the help with the deciphering helped me find a family tree and then documents to support it.  The bride's mother's maiden name in Canclini!

Thanks again!
