When my parents were naming us, they made a consious effort not to use family names and came up with these....
Nicolette Francesca.... Lovely but I have no idea where it came from,
Vincent De Paul.... all well and good except that here in Australia we have the St. Vincent de Paul society, who help the poor.
Tina-Louise Marie.... Louise is actually our father's mother's middle name, she was just going to be called Tina (which means tiny) but Grandma was worried that she might turn out to be a giant, hence the hyphen.
and me
Hilary Yvonne.... Yvonne is our mother's mothers first name.
When I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted to choose a name that hubby and I were happy with whether it have family connections or not...
My mother insisted that we use something... anything that was from our family tree.
We also spent time going through the names book which was not much help... we didn't agree on many names and ended up with two choices for a girls name ... Sarah Louise and Stephanie. We never decided on a boy's name.
We didn't make a final decision untill she was born and hubby first held her and said 'Hello Sarah'
Turns out that both Sarah and Louise are found on my mother's side so she was also pleased....
Hurrah for all
