What might you name your children?

My eldest is Katie Rose, Rose was my nans and g nans name.
My second is Shannon after the river because my dad is from Limerick in Ireland.
My son James is named after his dad (Paul James) and my grandad who was also James.

graceland, yes ilike old names, like heathcliffe, but not MY ancesters names, like maud , hilda sally ect, and one of my g. children is named after michael jacksons sister La, Toya, but her second name is lovely Roxanne,regards nora

I think for girls it would be Molly Kate or Lily Julia (after grandparents / great aunts) and boys James Michael or Patrick Michael.

Then again when I actually have children I'll probably name them something totally different.

Here's an interesting name that I have come across while doing my Tree:

Zipporah Ivy Breese - wow!!!  Wonder what was going through the parents minds when they named her LOL.

If any of you Chatters out there are expectant parents how about Zipporah for your daughter!!!!!!  Somehow, I don't think so

Hi Jan,

Zipporah is a very common Jewish name and the english translation is Deborah.  Zipporah is in the bible I think in the hebrew bible which is christian Old Testament. And the pp is pronouned like ff and the emphasis is on the ff too. so if you were saying it in hebrew its sounds like......seff-oor-wa.  So looks like you got some jewish in there.  By the way, I've got a convict ancestor I've yet to trace back to Shrewsbury in Shropshire.  Her name was Hannah or Ann Simmons or Simmens.

Thanks for the information about the name Zipporah.  I had no idea that it was of Jewish origin.

That certainly adds another element to my family tree for researching.  I have no idea where the Jewis bit comes in, hope to find out one day.

I've been scouring the Census's in Norfolk and came across some poor lad called POND.   er! that was his first name...poor kid!
